Work Experience

Here & Now Internship (NPR/WBUR): Reporter, Producer, Digital — Summer 2021

  1. Successfully pitched, reported, produced digital and audio stories weekly for a national news show with millions of weekly listeners.
  2. Assisted a team of seasoned producers, editors and digital strategists with bookings, pre-interviews, mixing audio and live tapings.
  3. Thoroughly processed the day's events, wrote scripts for hosts and accompanied digital stories to meet live on-air deadlines.
  4. Managed social media presence with the digital team and compiled "reportables" to share with nearly a thousand NPR member stations.

KBIA News 91.3 FM (NPR): Spring 2021-Present

  1. Anchor weekly afternoon newscasts live and remote, write and update accompanying web stories.
  2. Research, pitch, report and produce long-form feature stories in Adobe Audition for on-air broadcast.
  3. Anticipate and execute spot news reports for breaking news and live on-air deadlines.
  4. Collaborate with other KBIA reporters to exchange story ideas and ensure the best possible coverage.

Student Involvement

KCOU 88.1 FM: Radio Show Host & Producer — Spring 2019-Present

  1. Report weekly live on-air on upcoming local and college events, and discuss current pop culture news with guest co-hosts.
  2. Curate new weekly playlists for live on-air broadcast listeners and for digital content on kcou.fm.
  3. Complete yearly FCC training and follow FCC laws by cleaning tracks before airing.

Accomplishments

  1. Selected from among more than 25,000 applicants to be a part of NPR's 2021 Summer internship class.
  2. Reported for NPR's Newsdesk team, reaching audiences on the front page of NPR's website with various digital web stories.
  3. Covered a special election, interviewed candidates running for State House of Representatives and provided live online coverage of results.
